I applied for a Sallie Mae student loan and was turned down because I am unemployed. How can I become employed in the field that I have chosen if I can't get a student loan for the schooling? I own my own home and would work if I could find a job!
What bank/credit union will give an unemployed person a student loan?
The first thing you need to do is apply for financial aid, for which you are most likely eligible, since you are not currently employed. Once you have applied for financial aid you become eligible for Stanford and Plus loans, which are much easier to qualify for than 3rd party lenders like Sallie Mae. You should probably go and talk to someone in the financial aid office, so that they can supply you with step by step instructions as well as, other opportunities available to you. I am not currently employed, but have gotten loans for school for the past two semesters.
