I think I tried once before and they kind of laughed in my face... I can't remember why. I have three credit cards each with a $3000 balance. I really want to consolidate them so I don't have three payments each month PLUS I want a lower interest rate. Do banks absolutely not do that? I'd try to get a 0% APR card, but the limit isn't high enough for the total amount.
Is there any way I can get a personal loan from my bank so I can pay off my credit cards?
My bank has programs for that, but the downfall is that the interest that the loan is going to be charging you is usually a lot more than the credit card companies charge you. From my experience, it's not worth it at all, and you're better off just paying them over time.
But if some of your cards have interest on them, and you can get a 0% APR on a new credit card, transfer half the balance or transfer whatever you can. It's worth it it the cards you already owe on are charging you interest. Yes, it would be more payments a month, but the payments would be less and you wouldn't be accruing interest on a really high amount.
The companies you want to look into for debt consolidation are companies like Lending Tree who can get you the best deal, but definitely not your bank!

the APR a bank would give you for a consolidation loan would be really high. You could get another credit card (discover tends to give higher limits than most) at a promotional rate and roll one over at a time. Roll your highest balance over to the low interest rate and then pay the minimum on that one until you can pay off the other cards. Always start with the highest rate card to pay off first. Make sure to absolutely stop spending any money on your cards. Take them out of your wallet completely and do not use them. It is the only way to pay them off. But the bank will give you such a high interest rate, it probably wouldn't be worth it...

Yes, called an uncollaterize loan or a signature loan. You need to go and talk to the bank.

If you can't you need to pay off one at a time starting with the one with the most interest.
